Keeping in Touch, May 22, 2020.

We have two submissions for today’s ‘Keeping In Touch.’
A. Rick Hounjet has been busy having fun with his dyes.
B. Richard Pratchler sent in a lovely vase which presented some technical challenges.

Rick has two items for our viewing pleasure. The first is a platter made from Box Elder with red and yellow dyes and flowers burnt with a Razortip unit. His wife Michelle calls this one ‘Sun Kissed’.

Rick was having fun with his torch and a piece of firewood. This piece of Aspen was in the woodpile but ended up getting burnt and dyed. The dyes make it look like it is still on fire.

Richard turned a spalted black poplar vase with some rotten areas that he filled with blue epoxy. The bottom was a little soft so he poured blue epoxy into the vase to stabilize it. The vase is 12 inches tall and 7.5 inches in diameter and finished with 3 coats of water based wipe on poly and one coat of finishing wax.
