Keeping in Touch, May 7, 2020

There are two entries for today’s keeping in touch. Both are finished pieces from recent work in the shop.

This is that piece of spalted Big Leaf Maple that I had in my shop for past 20 years so I thought it was time to turn it.

This is a Big Leaf Maple bowl I finished.  The pillow top is died with five coats of aniline dye, a dark green, two light green, and two yellow. The dark green was mostly sanded away leaving a dark accent. The dark rings were burnt in with a narrow piece of purple heart, and the lath running at a fairly good speed.I finished it with several coats of a spray on semi gloss.
Thanks
